Project Description
Dumbarnie Golf Links, situated on the grounds of the Barlarres Estate, is the 247th authentic links course and the latest to be constructed in Scotland. The course opened in May 2020 and Doig+Smith were engaged by our Client, OB Sports Management, to provide Quantity Surveying services for the construction of the clubhouse including external works and maintenance facility, utilising 2-stage tendering to procure the works.
The works included construction of a 2-storey new-build clubhouse situated adjacent to the course. The ground floor comprises a feature bar and restaurant with glazed curtain walling providing views of the course. This is accompanied by fully equipped staff offices and back of house facilities. The same structure houses modern player facilities including pro shop and locker rooms.
The construction features a number of bespoke joinery elements and use of materials which are sympathetic to the rural landscape including slate, stone and timber cladding.
Our Role / Scope
Our role in the project was to provide Quantity Surveying services from project inception through tender and construction to completion.
Throughout the initial feasibility and concept design phase Doig+Smith had an all-encompassing role developing the cost plan and advising on the procurement strategy.
Key challenges for the project included the site location, delivery timescale and design considerations.
We provided the principle interface between OB Sports Management and Design Consultants throughout the pre and post construction phases of the project, delivering Cost Management services throughout.
