Robroyston Station

  • Robroyston Station

Project Description

Construction of a new railway station in Robroyston. The project generally comprises the Design and Construction of new Station Platforms, pedestrian overbridge and car parking at the site of Robroyston Station.

These works include the following:-

  • New car park facilities to the North and South sides of the Station, comprising 263 Park and Ride spaces including 12 electric vehicle charging bays, 20 accessible parking bays and secure storage for 32 cycles. This enables vehicle and pedestrians access from both sides of the station, while the new road network provides direct access from the nearby M80.
  • Installation of two 150m GRP platforms.
  • Pedestrian overbridge, stairs and access lifts to provide access for all pedestrians to both platforms.
  • New electrical installation works to the station, including CCTV, External Lighting and alterations to the existing Overhead Line Electrification.
  • Extensive ground remediation works to the car park areas to rectify the ‘extreme peat’ found within the existing ground. This included the installation of 942 driven precast concrete piles and a highly resilient and flexible soil reinforcement geogrid. The works were carried out adjacent to a live train line environment, therefore various Network Rail procedures were implemented throughout the construction phase. This included working methodologies such as the control of isolations, possessions and Network Rail’s specific health and safety requirements.
