Project Description

The works involved the following:

  • Removal of peat and soil from excavation area
  • Wreck removal
  • Blasting and excavation of rock to be used as perimeter bunds, temporary works bunds, and reclamation
  • 8m wide access road with tarmac surfacing, connecting to roads network
  • 25m wide link road, with crushed rock surfacing, connecting to Arnish Fabrication Yard
  • Piling works; in combi-piling; to produce a 196m long main quay with 30m return wall, and a 155m long ferry quay; and, in open-piled construction, a 119m long finger pier
  • Piling works in heavy load area at quayside
  • Rock armouring to slopes
  • Dredging of seabed (sands and gravels) over a 300,000m² area
  • Quayside furniture (bollards, coping, ladders etc.)
  • Services infrastructure
  • Roll on/roll off linkspan bridge and associated hydraulics and control systems
  • Weighbridge
  • Telecoms and wifi equipment to facilitate phone and internet communications
  • Lighting towers and control systems
  • Pontoon with access bridge to suit Port pilot boat and vessels up to 1000 tonnes displacement
  • Contractor-designed elements

Our Role / Scope

Our role in the project is to provide procurement advice, Project Monitoring, and commercial support.

Our involvement commenced in 2019 through management of the procurement process, managing the PCS process, reviewing and advising on cost,  contract and tender documentation, contractor negotiations, contractor selection and eventual contract award in the start of 2022. The post-contract role includes commercial support and a Project Monitoring role.

This role involves monthly site visits, monthly monitor reports collating all project progress including: site progress, commercial status and general overview of the project. The appointed contractor started on site in April 2022 and is due to finish in early 2024.
